These are actual examples of the types of conditions a pre-purchase inspection can uncover. Identifying a concern does not automatically establish its cause; additional diagnosis may sometimes be required.

Check Engine Light
IF MISSED: Several Hundred to Several Thousand Dollars.

Check Engine Light

This could mean anything. Even if the vehicle is running fine it could still have a serious issue and if kept driving in it's current condition could damage the engine and drivetrain.

IF MISSED: $200 and up. Some engine pans can get extremely expensive.

While this is not an overly expensive repair, it's a hazard to drive this vehicle in it's current condition. The line could bursts at any time leaving you with minimal braking power.

IF MISSED: $400 and up for a set of 4 tires.

tires can have plenty of tread and still need to be replaced. If you see this on the tires, it's time to replace them.
